Montreal – VIA Rail Canada Inc. has been shortlisted by the Institute of Risk Management for a 2016 IRM Global Risk Award in the prestigious category Delivering Value Through Risk Management. Winners in each of the 13 award categories will be unveiled during a ceremony to be held in London, United Kingdom, on April 15, 2016. Ghislain Giroux Dufort, President of Baldwin Risk Strategies Inc., said the firm was proud to be associated with VIA Rail Canada, congratulated them on their remarkable achievements, and wished them all the best at the awards ceremony.
As Canada's national rail passenger service, VIA Rail Canada (viarail.ca) and its 2,500 employees are mandated to provide safe, efficient and economical passenger transportation service, in both official languages of Canada. VIA Rail operates intercity, regional and transcontinental trains linking 450 communities across the country, and safely transports nearly four million passengers annually. In 2015, VIA Rail Canada’ Enterprise Risk Management program earned the corporation a prestigious ERM Award of Distinction from the USA’s Risk Management Society (RIMS) in Chicago, a Railway Association of Canada award, and a nomination at the IRM Global Risk Awards in London, UK. The company has earned seven Safety Awards by the Railway Association of Canada over the last nine years, and was the recipient of the 2013 Agent's Choice Award voted by Canadian travel agents and presented by Baxter Travel Media.
