Edinburgh - The President of Baldwin Global Risk Services Ltd, Alexander Larsen, spoke at 4 conferences across Europe and the Middle East during the months of April and May of 2017.
His first conference was on the 5th of April at a HMRC (Tax Revenue) internal conference where he introduced the subject of risk management, outlining the benefits of identifying and managing risks to a newly formed division’s objectives. Feedback was positive with Senior People Engagement Officer & conference organiser, Scott Durbin saying:
“We were absolutely delighted to have been able to secure Alexander Larsen as a speaker, who not only provided outstanding expert knowledge, on what we now understand to be a highly valuable business process, but was also able to keep the attendees motivated and engaged throughout with his enthusiastic and interactive approach to the presentation. Not only was knowledge transferred in only a short period, but we also ended up having the start of a few risk registers for numerous projects and teams as a result!”
The HMRC conference was followed up by the “EPC in Mega Projects for Oil & Gas” conference held in Amsterdam on the 20th of April where Alexander was invited to speak on the topic of Project Risk Management in Oil & Gas with a specific focus on Politically unstable environments, leaning on his experience from Iraq. The conference had a number of interesting speakers from all around the globe, speaking on a variety of topics, and interaction between the audience, who attended from all across Europe, was high. Following the presentation, Alexander was also asked to sit on a Panel to discuss various topics such as how to improve communication between contractors and how to improve project success.
Alexander left Amsterdam to speak a couple of days later at the 11th Annual Oil and Gas Security conference which is held on an annual basis in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. This is a highly prestigious conference which has been attended regularly since its inception in 2006. Alexander carried the Enterprise Risk Management banner as the only speaker to present on the topic, specifically how it interacts with both cyber and physical security.
“From the cadence in his voice, to the clarity of his delivery, it’s clear that Alexander is passionate about what he does. We really appreciated being able to harness this passion via pre-event interviews as well his sessions on site.”
This was not the only conference Alexander spoke to in the Middle East however, and on the last day of April, another prestigious event was held in Kuwait, the 5th annual Crisis & Risk Management Summit, where Alexander ran a Pre-Conference Business Continuity Workshop with Attendees. This was far more in depth than the usual conference presentations and attendees showed their interest by posing questions throughout the workshop.
Finally, Alexander was asked to moderate and participate in a couple of panel sessions at the Commodities Risk Management Summit held in London. The topics of the panel sessions included Supply chain Risk Management and Risk Culture in which Alexander contributed his views on how Transparency, Risk Maturity Models and Technology such as social media, can support the successful implementation of Risk Culture and an ERM program. The organizers had the following comments for Alexander’s participation :
“It was our pleasure to welcome Alexander Larsen to ComRisk 2017 in London. Very knowledgeable and engaging, he was an excellent moderator to the ‘Risks in supply chain’ panel discussion.”
"He contributed greatly to the discussion we hosted on ‘How to build an efficient risk management framework’, where he shared his experience within various companies in the Middle East and gave insights on what the key factors for success are when it comes to the risk culture.”
